Tibia Fracture Braces
The fracture braces in the Tibia Fracture Brace series have been developed and tested in over 5,000 clinical cases in conjunction with the University of Miami, Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation*. The information gained from these studies is a key resource in the design of Maramed’s fracture brace line. The design is comprised of overlapping anterior and posterior shells that allow for ease of adjustment and accommodate for volumetric changes of soft tissue associated with fracture healing. Anatomical and biomedical considerations insure soft tissue compression is maintained as volumetric adjustments are compensated for while maintaining proper suspension of the brace over the fracture area. The design promotes early return to function. A Sarmiento Style Condylar extension is combined with the anatomical design of our standard TFB-PS to produce a superior product in both soft tissue compression and patella control.
The carefully sculpted foot component insures patient comfort while providing ample medial lateral support. Maximum patient comfort is provided through the use of specially formulated low density polyethylene plastic with 1/8″ foam lining that pads the anterior shell. Excellent off-the-shelf fit has been achieved through many years of clinical development. However, in such cases where customization is indicated, the TFB can be quickly and easily modified utilizing a heat gun and scissors, as shown in the modification procedures. Each is provided with one presewn double layer cotton stockinette. Additional stockinette and straps are available separately.
